Time and Talent
As children, there were times that all of us sat anxiously waiting to get into the game or for our turn to participate in some fun activity, wanting nothing more than to get involved. We hope to bring that same feeling back today, only this time in church! We are not all called to give that fire and brimstone sermon, nor are we all destined to be Ministers of Holy Communion. All of us were given gifts from God; we need to recognize our own talents and use them in the service of God. No matter what our level of participation is, we can all help fortify the church. "There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone." 1 Corinthians 12:4-6. If you are a person that is skilled with your hands, you could volunteer some time making necessary repairs to the church or other parish buildings. If you can cook, your involvement could be as humble as baking some delicious treats for a church bake sale or fundraiser. Whatever gifts were bestowed upon you, Christ wants you to use them in his name! I am sure we could also find room for your talents in one of our more traditional church ministries such as, singing in the choir, being a lector, a sacristan, becoming involved in the youth ministry or as a Mass server. We welcome all of our gifted and talented parishioners to participate at any age!
If you have a new or unique way to get involved, or have a gift or talent that you feels would benefit our church, please suggest it.
Have you filled out our Gift Inventory Form? If not, please take a few minutes and let us know your interests and talents. This way we can let you know of needs and opportunities to serve that you may be interested in as they arise
"Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all, but especially to those who belong to our family of the faith." Galatians 6:9-10
